Dual-Sole Engineer Boots | Black Suede, 28 cm Shaft

WL-EG8 is a black suede pull-on model with two outsole configurations: a standard custom rubber lug sole or an upgraded Vibram 700. Taiwan TYCHE calfskin, a 28 cm shaft, 5 cm heel and Goodyear welt create the tall profile. Styling is moto-inspired; the boot is not certified riding protection.

🏍️

Tall Moto Engineer Profile

A 28 cm shaft, twin buckle straps, round toe, and 5 cm stacked heel — the engineer boot shape riders have worn since the 1930s.

🖤

TYCHE® Suede Calfskin

Taiwan TYCHE® full-grain suede calfskin gives a deep matte nap that resists scuffing and softens as the boots break in.

Two Outsole Options

Standard Custom Rubber Lug Sole, or upgrade to the Italy VIBRAM® 700 Rubber Sole for a heavier tread and longer wear.

🧵

Goodyear Welt Construction

Traditional welt construction adds structure, durability, and future resoling potential.

Fit, Size & Motorcycle Styling Boot sizing runs one full size larger than sneaker sizing — boot size 35 matches sneaker size 36, and the offset holds across the range. This product uses a standard last and does not include E or EE width options. Regular sizes run EU 35–44, with Custom Size EU available from EU 45–47. Motorcycle style here refers to rider-inspired heritage design; these boots are not certified protective motorcycle, tactical, or safety footwear.

Three Ways to Style WL-EG8

Engineer boots with sole options let the buyer choose traction and visual weight without changing the upper. These black suede pull-on boots work with cuffed denim, leather jackets and heavier winter layers; beige and brown colorways soften the same tall profile.

28 cm Shaft, Twin Buckles

The tall shaft and two buckle straps hold the boot close through the calf — the detail that defines a rider's engineer boot.

TYCHE® Suede Calfskin

Full-grain suede calfskin from a Taiwanese tannery founded in 1973, with a fine, dense nap that ages without cracking.

Two Outsole Options

Standard Custom Rubber Lug Sole for everyday wear, or the Italy VIBRAM® 700 Rubber Sole upgrade for heavier tread and grip.

Goodyear welt construction supports long-term structure, durability, and future resoling potential.

🎨

Black, Beige & Brown

Three colorways on the same last — black for full moto styling, beige and brown for lighter daytime outfits.

🦵

5 cm Stacked Heel

The 5 cm heel gives the boot a defined rider's stance and keeps the shaft standing tall instead of collapsing at the ankle.

Full-Grain Calfskin Lining

The interior is lined in full-grain calfskin, chosen for a soft, fine-textured surface against the foot. Compared with many standard lining materials, calfskin holds up better to the repeated friction of pulling a tall boot on and off.

Goodyear Welt Construction

Goodyear welt construction creates a durable connection between the upper and the sole, giving the boots structure, long-term strength, and future resoling potential. It is a traditional method with close to two centuries of use in handmade bootmaking.

Component brands describe the materials used in these boots. They do not imply certification, safety rating, or protective performance.

Leather & Details

TYCHE® Suede Calfskin with Full Moto Detailing

These motorcycle engineer boots are built with Taiwan TYCHE® full-grain suede calfskin, a 28 cm shaft, twin buckle straps, a round toe, a 5 cm stacked heel, and Goodyear welt construction. The fine suede nap, metal hardware, layered welt stack, and two available outsole configurations give the boot its distinctive heritage moto profile.
🖤

TYCHE® Full-Grain Suede Calfskin

Calfskin has a compact fibre structure that supports a fine, dense suede nap. Directional brushing changes how the black surface reflects light, while flex areas may gradually smooth and develop a subtle sheen with wear.

🔗

28 cm Shaft & Twin Buckle Straps

An instep strap and an upper-shaft strap define the tall pull-on profile. The buckle adjustment shapes the opening and instep area while preserving the engineer boot’s lace-free construction.

Welt Stack & Two Outsole Options

The layered Goodyear welt construction is paired with either the standard brown rubber outsole or the optional Italy VIBRAM® 700 outsole. Future resoling depends on the condition of the welt and assessment by a qualified cobbler.

Nap variation, directional shading, and sheen at the flex points are part of the suede character rather than defects. These boots are designed for motorcycle-inspired heritage styling and rugged everyday wear, not as certified protective motorcycle footwear.

Fit & Sizing

Fit and Size Guidance for WL-EG8

Boot sizing runs one full size larger than sneaker sizing across the whole range: boot size 35 matches sneaker size 36, boot 36 matches sneaker 37, and so on through boot 44, which matches sneaker 45. Take one size down from your usual sneaker size, then confirm against measured foot length. These boots use a standard last with no E or EE width options.
📏

One Full Size Larger Than Sneakers

Boot 35 = sneaker 36, boot 36 = sneaker 37, boot 37 = sneaker 38, and the same one-size offset holds all the way to boot 44 = sneaker 45. Order one size below your sneaker size.

🦵

Tall Shaft, Pull-On Feel

A 28 cm shaft has to clear the instep on the way in, so the entry can feel firm at first. It should grip the foot and instep securely without pinching once the boot is on.

Try-On Advice
Try indoors on a clean surface before outdoor wear
The Vibram 700 outsole option is the upgraded configuration; the standard configuration uses a custom rubber lug sole. Both retain the same 28 cm shaft, 5 cm heel and Goodyear welt construction.

The Story

Why the Engineer Boot Is Tall, Black, and Buckled

Every defining feature of this boot started as a solution to a problem. The shaft is tall because it had to keep heat and sparks off the shin. There are no laces because laces catch on machinery and footpegs. The straps exist to pull the shaft in so it stops flapping at speed. The heel is stacked so the foot sits on the peg instead of sliding off it. Black became the default because it hid oil. This pair keeps all of it — a 28 cm shaft in TYCHE® suede calfskin, twin buckles, a 5 cm stacked heel, and a Goodyear welt that can be resoled — and simply lets you choose how aggressive the outsole should be.

Where WL-EG8 Fits Best

The tall shaft and buckle straps work best in outfits built around denim, leather, and heavier winter layers. Black delivers the strongest moto character, while beige and red bring the same silhouette into lighter daytime outfits.

Care & FAQ

Care, Fit, and Everyday Wear Guide

Product-specific answers about materials, construction, fit, sizing, care and intended use.

Suede Calfskin Care

🪥

Brush, Don't Polish

Use a suede or crepe brush to lift the nap and clear dust after wear. Never use wax or cream polish — it flattens the nap and darkens the surface permanently.

🧽

Treat Marks Dry

Work light scuffs out with a suede eraser or a dry brush. For oily marks, blot first and let the spot dry fully before brushing the nap back up.

🛡️

Protect Before Wearing

A suede protector spray applied before first wear, and refreshed periodically, helps the nap shed water and resist salt staining in winter.

🦵

Store the Shaft Upright

A 28 cm shaft will fold at the ankle if left lying down. Store the boots standing, ideally with boot shapers, so the shaft keeps its line.

Fit, Care and Product FAQ · WL-EG8

What distinguishes WL-EG8 from the other Hector Maden models?
WL-EG8 is the only model in this group offered with two outsole configurations. Choose the standard lug sole for the base build or the Vibram 700 upgrade for a heavier tread; the suede upper and boot dimensions remain the same.
How should I choose my size?
Boot sizing runs one full size larger than sneaker sizing. Boot 35 matches sneaker 36, boot 36 matches sneaker 37, and the same offset holds up to boot 44, which matches sneaker 45. Order one size below your usual sneaker size, then confirm against your measured foot length.
What sizes are available?
Regular sizes are available from EU 35–44. Custom Size EU is available from EU 45–47.
Do these boots have E or EE width options?
No. This product uses a standard last and does not include E or EE width options, so measured foot length is the most reliable sizing reference.
Which outsole should I choose?
The standard Custom Rubber Lug Sole suits everyday wear and keeps the profile closest to the classic engineer boot outline. The Italy VIBRAM® 700 Rubber Sole upgrade has a deeper, heavier tread and is the better choice for rougher ground, wetter conditions, or longer wear before resoling.
Are these certified protective motorcycle boots?
No. These boots are designed for motorcycle-inspired heritage styling — leather jackets, raw denim, and rider-culture outfits. They carry no protective certification and are not certified motorcycle, tactical, or safety footwear.
What leather is used on these boots?
The upper is Taiwan TYCHE® full-grain suede calfskin. TYCHE® was founded in 1973 and is a leading Taiwanese tannery supplying hides to well over a hundred brands.
How is suede calfskin different from ordinary suede?
Calfskin has a tighter fibre structure than mature cowhide, so the nap is finer and denser. It holds color more deeply, feels smoother to the hand, and tends to develop sheen at the flex points rather than cracking.
What colors are available?
These boots are offered in black, beige and brown. Black is the traditional moto choice; beige and brown take the same tall silhouette into lighter daytime outfits.
How tall is the shaft, and how high is the heel?
The shaft is 28 cm and the heel is 5 cm. The height is what gives the boot its rider's stance and keeps the shaft standing rather than collapsing at the ankle.
Can these boots be resoled?
Goodyear welt construction is designed to support structure, durability, and future resoling potential, depending on wear condition and the repair service used. This applies to both outsole options.
Can I wear these boots in wet or winter weather?
They handle normal daily conditions, but they are not waterproof and suede is more sensitive to moisture and road salt than smooth leather. Apply a suede protector spray before first wear, avoid soaking, and if the boots get damp let them dry naturally at room temperature away from direct heat before brushing the nap back up.
These motorcycle engineer boots are built for rider-inspired heritage styling and rugged everyday wear. They are not certified protective motorcycle, tactical, or safety footwear.
