On a shaft this tall the thickness is doing structural work, not just adding hand-feel — it is what keeps 29 cm of leather standing.
Vibram has been compounding rubber outsoles in Italy since 1937. The MINI LUG 430 carries a compact but genuinely deep lug pattern across the forepart and heel — it bites on loose and wet ground, and it gives the boot a visibly thicker sole edge beneath the welt. Origin: Italy.
Conceria 3S SELI has tanned in Tuscany since 1929 using chestnut, mimosa and oak bark rather than chrome. Vegetable tanned leather is stiffer at first and then takes a permanent impression of the foot — on a heavier boot that break-in period is longer, and the result lasts accordingly. A 2 mm Italian vegetable tanned half footbed sits over it at heel and arch. Origin: Tuscany, Italy.
The cavity between outsole and insole is packed with 2 mm of natural wood chips instead of being left hollow or filled with cork board. It compresses unevenly — more where you bear weight, less where you do not — so the bed under your foot ends up shaped by how you actually walk.
Calfskin lines the foot and lower shaft; the upper shaft is left unlined. On a 29 cm boot that matters — a fully lined shaft this tall gets hot and stiff, while a half lining keeps the top section flexible enough to move with the calf.

The grain is pressed in by hand rather than rolled on evenly, then sealed under a wax mist. Turn the boot in the light and the tone shifts — that irregularity is the entire point of the finish.
The two buckle straps pull the shaft in at ankle and calf, and the leather weight does the rest. Tucked or untucked, the top edge stays where you set it.

Boot 35 = sneaker 36, boot 36 = sneaker 37, and the same one-size offset holds all the way to boot 44 = sneaker 45. Order one size below your usual sneaker size.
At 29 cm in a 2.2–2.4 mm hide, the shaft is stiff out of the box and the instep has to clear on the way in. This eases considerably after the first few wears — it is not a sizing problem.

Care & FAQ
A horsehair brush worked in small circles reaches the low points of the embossed grain. A flat wipe skims over them and leaves dust behind.
A 29 cm shaft left lying down will crease permanently at the ankle. Stand the boots up, ideally with shapers or rolled paper inside the shaft.
Thin coats, only when the hide feels dry. Heavy conditioning fills the embossed grain, softens the leather, and a softer 29 cm shaft is exactly what you do not want.
These boots are not waterproof. If they get damp, dry them naturally at room temperature away from direct heat, then brush the grain back up.
