Our boots follow standard boot sizing, which typically runs one size smaller than sneakers. If you wear EU 42 in sneakers, you’ll likely need EU 41 in boots. For first-time boot buyers, we recommend trying them on indoors before committing.

Pain Point: "My new boots feel stiff and uncomfortable. Will they soften up?"
Solution: Premium leather boots require a break-in period to conform to your feet. This can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the leather type and construction. To ease the process:

• Wear them for short periods at first.
• Use leather conditioner sparingly to soften the leather.
• Remove insoles initially if the instep feels tight, allowing the boot to mold before reinserting them.

Pain Point: "The length seems fine, but my foot feels squeezed across the instep."
Solution: This is common in boots with a structured leather midsole and firm leather uppers. If the width feels slightly snug, the boots will stretch over time as the leather molds to your foot. If discomfort is significant, consider:

• Removing the full-length insole for the first few wears to create extra room.
• Wearing thinner socks to allow the leather to adjust more naturally.
• If you have a high instep or wide feet, opting for a wider last (EE width).

Solution: The level of waterproofing depends on the leather type:

• Full-grain leather boots naturally resist light rain but benefit from occasional conditioning and a wax-based treatment for extra protection.
• Suede & nubuck boots should be treated with a water-repellent spray to prevent stains and water absorption.
• Tea-core and waxed leathers develop a unique patina over time but should be maintained with occasional leather balm for longevity.

If exposed to heavy rain or snow, let your boots air-dry naturally and avoid direct heat sources like radiators or hairdryers, which can cause cracking.

Pain Point: "How do I know when it's time to replace the soles?"
Solution: Goodyear-welted boots are built to last, and resoling extends their lifespan significantly. Signs that your boots need a resole include:

• The outsole tread is worn flat or uneven.
• The leather welt or midsole shows signs of separation or cracking.
• You feel reduced comfort or support compared to when they were new.

When this happens, take your boots to a reputable cobbler for resoling. Avoid waiting until the damage reaches the welt, as that can be harder to repair.

Solution: A small amount of heel slippage (about 1/4 inch) is normal in new boots. This happens because the stiff leather midsole hasn't flexed to your walking motion yet. Once broken in, the leather molds to your foot, and the slippage should stop. If it persists:
