Cuff the denim just above the ankle strap — at 27 cm the shaft sits high enough to show but low enough to stack.
Hand-Embossed · Low Heel
WL-EG9 uses 2.2–2.4 mm cowhide with a hand-embossed Shipwreck finish that creates irregular surface depth. A 27 cm shaft, low 3.5 cm heel, Goodyear welt and Vibram 705 sole keep the profile slimmer and lower than the heavier WL-EG11 for everyday heritage styling.
A hand-embossed, mist-waxed full-grain cowhide developed to recreate the timeworn character of legendary salvaged hides. 2.2–2.4 mm thick.
A 27 cm shaft and a low 3.5 cm heel keep the classic engineer outline without the height of a full moto boot.
The Italy VIBRAM® TYGUM 705 forepart-and-heel rubber sole gives everyday traction with a slim, heritage-correct edge.
Traditional welt construction adds structure, durability, and future resoling potential.

Hand-embossed engineer boots bring more surface depth than smooth calfskin, so the finish works well with denim, canvas and other textured fabrics. Among Shipwreck leather boots, WL-EG9 keeps a lower profile through its 27 cm shaft, 3.5 cm heel and slim outsole.
Cuff the denim just above the ankle strap — at 27 cm the shaft sits high enough to show but low enough to stack.
The mist-waxed grain sits naturally against canvas, duck cotton, and heavier work layers.
The black colorway takes the same silhouette into darker, more structured outfits.
Why This Boot Works
The classic engineer outline in a lower, shorter cut — built for denim, workwear, and everyday heritage outfits rather than the road alone.
Full-grain cowhide embossed by hand and finished with mist wax, recreating the deep, timeworn look of legendary salvaged hides.
A substantial thickness for an upper — it holds the shaft's shape, takes the embossed grain cleanly, and resists everyday scuffing.
Lower and shorter than a full moto engineer boot, which makes it the easiest one in the range to wear on ordinary days.
The Italy VIBRAM® TYGUM 705 forepart-and-heel rubber sole keeps the sole edge slim while adding everyday grip.
Goodyear welt construction supports long-term structure, durability, and future resoling potential.
A 2 mm layer of natural wood chips fills the cavity between outsole and insole, and gradually settles to the shape of the foot.
Materials & Components
A component-by-component view of the upper, outsole, insole, footbed, lining, shaping materials, stitching and welt construction used in this model.
Developed in collaboration with an established tannery, this full-grain cowhide features hand-applied texturing and a mist-wax finish, recreating the rich, timeworn character of legendary shipwreck leather. Thickness: 2.2–2.4 mm.
Vibram was founded in 1937 and is known for high-performance rubber compounds. The TYGUM 705 is a forepart-and-heel rubber configuration rather than a full lug block, which keeps the sole edge slim and the profile close to a traditional engineer boot while still adding everyday grip. Origin: Italy.
Conceria 3S SELI was founded in 1929 and still tans with traditional Tuscan methods using chestnut, mimosa and oak bark. The natural vegetable tanned cowhide insole is topped with a 2 mm Italian vegetable tanned leather half footbed — breathable, skin-friendly, and quick to take the shape of the foot. Origin: Tuscany, Italy.
A 2 mm layer of natural wood chips fills the cavity between the outsole and the insole. It stays breathable, cushions the step, and gradually compresses to the shape of the foot the longer the boots are worn.
The boots carry a full-grain calfskin half lining — soft and fine-textured where it meets the foot, and left unlined higher up the shaft so the boot stays flexible and breathable. Calfskin holds up to the friction of pulling a boot on and off better than most standard lining materials.
RHENOFLEX was founded in Germany in 1952 and is a well-known supplier of shoe reinforcement materials. The 3155/3175 stiffeners shape and support the forefoot and heel, contributing to lasting structure and form retention. Origin: Germany.
COATS was founded in the UK in 1755 and brings more than two centuries of thread manufacturing to specialist sewing. The Brio™ Series thread is made for professional leather work and supports clean stitching and long-term seam strength. Origin: United Kingdom.
Goodyear welt construction creates a durable connection between the upper and the sole, giving the boots structure, long-term strength, and future resoling potential. It is a traditional method with close to two centuries of use in handmade bootmaking.
Leather & Details
The texture is pressed into the hide by hand rather than applied as a perfectly uniform pattern, then finished with a fine wax mist. This creates natural differences in grain depth, reflection, and brown tone between pairs.
The substantial cowhide supports the pronounced embossed grain and helps the shaft maintain its structure. Minor surface marks can blend more naturally into the leather’s textured character.
An ankle strap and an upper strap define the classic engineer-boot profile. With a 27 cm shaft and a 3.5 cm heel, this is the shortest and lowest engineer boot in the range, making it easier to incorporate into everyday outfits.
Fit & Sizing
Boot 35 = sneaker 36, boot 36 = sneaker 37, and the same one-size offset holds all the way to boot 44 = sneaker 45. Order one size below your usual sneaker size.
A pull-on boot has to clear the instep on the way in, so entry can feel firm at first. Once on, it should hold the foot and instep securely without pinching.
After purchase, we may confirm foot length, selected size, color, stock, production details, and delivery timeline by email before production begins.

The Story
Use Case Gallery
The 3.5 cm heel keeps the profile grounded under denim, so the boot feels suited to daily wear rather than costume styling.
The mist-waxed grain pairs naturally with canvas, duck cotton, and other textured workwear fabrics.
The black colorway holds the same distinctive texture but reads sharper with darker, more structured clothing.
The VIBRAM® TYGUM 705 forepart-and-heel layout preserves a slim welt profile, closer to a heritage boot than a full lug work sole.
Care & FAQ
Use a horsehair brush and work in small circles. The embossed grain traps dust in its low points, which a flat wipe will miss.
The mist-wax finish will burnish at the toe and flex points with wear. That deepening is the intended behaviour of the leather, not wear damage.
Apply a leather-safe conditioner thinly and only when the hide feels dry. Heavy conditioning fills the embossed grain and flattens the texture you paid for.
These boots are not waterproof. If they get damp, let them dry naturally at room temperature away from direct heat, then brush the grain back up.
